Junkyard Scrapbook

Have you seen the new embellishments from Prima?

Its a bulb with a metal base and filament just like your household bulbs but its a flatback. It looks bulky which will ideally pop up your projects.



What about zipper pulls? A Father's Day card or a baby boy album would be ideal to use this zipper pulls.

Scrapbook vs Hardware

In my previous article I showed you a video by Okakuku making a scrapbook mini album using a metal sheet with holes and a "pokey thing" (dont have a name for that unless one of you scrapbookers are familiar with it please send me a comment) as tools and we also do know that we use embellishments like duck tape or foil tape  (which was sold in hardware companies to tape wires together or tape the wire to the floor), metal clock face, O rings and screws, paint chips, sandpaper and much more for scrapbooking.

Now Inkadinkadoo has come up with a product called Stamping Gears. This is also a hardware product. The actual gears or cogs, if two or more gears (as shown in the picture) are working together it creates a rotational motion and is a mechanism to change the speed and direction of a power source for eg like in a pulley. I am not sure whether I am explaining the right mechanical terms but thats the way how the Inkadingkado stamping gears work but in a more fun way. Accordion Mini Album

This Accordion Mini Album made by Okakuku (http://youtu.be/3IhRHvrydn0) is dedicated to all those who dont have access to scrapbooking materials in their country or find scrapbooking stuff too expensive to buy (which is totally true). She uses gift wrapping paper, cereal boxes, buttons from old clothes, flowers from an old book, 3M foam adhesive from a hardware store as dimentionals  to mount her embellishments, fussy cutting her pictures from the wrapping paper, false stitching using a "pokey thing" hehe from a fabric store, sheet metal with holes also from an hardware store and journaling lines with uniball gell pen. Thanks for the inspiration. Environmentally Friendly Card

This is an old video by scrapper Okakuku (http://youtu.be/F4BPq8EHxso). The beauty of this card is she made the leaf without using a die cut or a die cut machine. As you know we need all the help from Spellbinders, Sizzix, Cottage Cutz, Quickutz and Bosskut for die cutting our embellishments to enhance our mini album.  This simple, clean and green card attracted 1,120,901 you tube hits ladies. Bravo!

Duck Tape Embellishment

Gone are the days where duck tape is just grey, black and coloured used by tradies. Now you have patterned duck tape. I only came to know about that today! You should see to believe it. You have zig zag, spotted leopard, hot rod, hello kitty red bow, dragon, reindeer, cupcakes, butterfly and Sponge Bob Square Pants!!!!!! and much more. Its more than a hardware item now.






 

You can do alot of stuff with these tapes like making wallets, trims, frame, purses, flowers, keychain and stationery. The possibilities are endless.

How to make an envelope mini album

This video by papertreyink (http://youtu.be/c0THzj1ekLE) is a very simple and easy to follow tutorial as to how to make a mini album with envelopes. Recycle all your used envelopes for the tutorial before making it with new ones and then cover it with your patterned papers, embellishments and photos.

Unique Handbag

This has got nothing to do with scrapbook but it does look like a scrapbook bag collection using the border punch :) . So cute! Very unique, colourful and sweet satchel from OMSK Collection. I love it!

 


While still on the subject on handbags I came across a video by Clipa instroducing The Instant Handbag Hangar. Eventhough it looks like a bangle it is a hook that safely holds your handbag away from dirt, water and germs :). It can be also worn as a bangle or bracelet and has a hidden automatic closure and costs about $26 and comes in different colors too.



How to use journaling cards

I love this video from Echo Park. It gives you an idea as to how to use journaling cards not just for journaling but as a mini album or you can even use it as a photo mat on one side and decorate it on the side of the card or it can be used as tags for your mini album.

Storage for Photos

I found a new storage box Photo Case by Cropper Hopper to store your photos (not a shoebox ;) ) if you dont have time to scrapbook it yet.

This double sided Cropper Hopper Photo Case holds over 2000 - 4x6 photos on one side and on side two you can store large portraits, memorabilia or paper upto 12x12". Patchwork Scrapbook Card

This is another video showing how to use leftover patterned papers to create a card. SweetBioDesign (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeT5fEWWgrI&feature=colike) uses square pieces of various patterned paper, a tag template and a pen to create a patchwork stitch (instead of hand stitching it) to make a beautiful card. So simple and lovely!

How to mix n match patterned paper

Do you have a problem combining patterned papers to create a layout? Yes I do for sure. I have been using papers with glitters or some beautiful patterns on it to create my cards and layouts so I dont have to mix and match and play around with it. Scrapbook Journal

I have lots of leftover scrapbook papers from cards and layout that I made for my own and its stacked away in a corner. Luckily I didn’t throw it away thanks to steffogal1. Here is a video how she uses leftover scrapbook  papers to make a journal. You rock!

It doesnt have to be a journal. You can use it as a birthday card, Mother's Day card (with little notes or pictures) or a wedding card with a gift card attached. Nice!

Corrugated Scrapbook Mini Album

I was watching a video from steffogal1 (http://youtu.be/dpbsqGSJXhY) where she received a swap mini album from another scrapper Sarah. This mini was made from corrugated  cardboard.  You dont necessarily need to buy expensive items like chipboard and cardstock to do scrapbooking instead recycle your cardboard boxes cut it into shape and  lace it with your beautiful patterned paper and use items around your home like buttons, ribbons, paper clips, tags from new clothes and used envelopes. Brilliant!

Washi Tape

Wash Tape is a tougher then ordinary paper tape and originally made in Japan. It has various colours and patterns and comes in widths of 1/4" upto 21/2" and is great for scrapbooking.
