All about Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers and sending greeting cards. Since the 19th century handwritten valentines has given way to factory produced greeting cards and has become more commercialised.

In the second half of the 20th century, the practice of exchanging cards was extended to gifts which includes roses and chocolates packed in a red satin, heart-shaped box andteddy bears and the diamond industry began to promote Valentine's Day as an occasion for giving jewelry.

The rise of internet popularity created new traditions with millions of people using digital means of creating and sending Valentine's Day greeting messages such as e-cards, love coupons or printable greeting cards. Do you know that an estimated 15 million e-valentines were sent in 2010 and an estimated 1 billion valentines are mailed every year?
