Whats with ribbons and me? I found a very safe, convenient and portable new tool called the i-magicut ribbon cutter. Basically it is a ribbon cutter and sealer. It perfectly cuts and seals the ribbons so that there is no fray or threads hanging loose from your ribbon. Its runs on 4 AA batteries and priced about $20 and does its job in less then 5 seconds. Easy!
